Our latest updates on Connectivity Recovery
The past months have been challenging for all of our partners. We want to make sure we’re supporting you and your properties in the best way possible, no matter what phase of recovery you’re in. That’s why we’ve been hard at work sharing solutions and advice to help capture any re-emerging travel demand. We now have new updates for you, including details about the latest industry trends and additions to your Connectivity Recovery Toolkit.
What trends are we seeing in the market?
We’re seeing early signs that people are starting to book travel again, especially between September and December 2020. At the moment, the majority of the reservations coming through our platform are domestic or local, with most travellers booking properties relatively close to home. We’re also seeing a large portion of reservations being booked either very last-minute or far in advance – up to 16 months ahead.
What are the latest updates to the Connectivity Recovery Toolkit?
Just over a month ago, we released the Connectivity Recovery Toolkit to support you and your properties. The toolkit brings together advice and resources from our experts across Booking.com. At the beginning of July, we added more recovery tips to the toolkit. Here are some of the highlights:
Understanding the stages of recovery
At Booking.com, we’re using data models and checking with local markets to identify how countries are doing in relation to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We’ve grouped countries into different phases so that we can better address the needs of properties there – from lockdown to early recovery to business as usual. To make it easier for you to see where each country stands, we’ve worked with our product teams to display this data in the Partner Portal. Take a look at the ‘Opportunities’ tab to find out more.*
Displaying the right availability
Given current demand, it’s key that your properties update their availability for both last-minute bookings (for stays within 30 days) and bookings up to 16 months ahead. In markets where guest demand is picking up, make sure your properties are visible for High Demand Dates – the dates that travellers are currently searching for the most.
Setting up sustainable Rate Plans
Offering a variety of rates can help your properties attract more demand. Given the travel trends we’re currently seeing, we recommend setting up the following rates and deals:
- Country Rates to attract local, domestic travellers
- Last-minute deals to attract guests eager to travel within the next few weeks
- Getaway Deals to appeal to travellers looking for stays between September and December 2020
After speaking with properties about the ways we can help them attract growing demand, our product team has launched the Partner Performance Investment Programme. This is a series of targeted offers, funded by Booking.com and designed to enhance properties’ visibility. When our data shows that one of these offers could benefit a property, they’ll receive an invitation by email. To find out more about the Partner Performance Investment Programme, you can contact your Partner Business Manager.
Offering more flexibility to travellers
In these unpredictable times, travellers are looking for flexible policies so they can book stress-free. Your properties can opt in to Risk-Free Reservations to add flexibility to their cancellation policies and appeal to more travellers. If a guest cancels their reservation, Booking.com will either find another guest or cover the cost of the reservation.
Putting safety and hygiene first
Your properties can make guests feel safe and confident by showcasing the health and hygiene measures they’re taking. Your properties can now use the Content API to directly add 19 hygiene standards to their property page.
We hope these new updates can help support you and your properties on the road to recovery. Make sure you check the toolkit regularly to stay up to date with our latest recovery advice.
